Shamatha Practice

Here is a word document I put together that illustrates the details of Shamatha. I took most of the details from The Berzin Archives.

“Shamatha is a stilled and settled state of mind that has the accompanying mental factor of a sense of physical and mental fintess. This is an exhilararating feeling of fitness to be able to concentrate on anything for as long as we wish.”

Now I think to really attain Shamatha, or single pointed meditation, one needs to rely on a teacher for inspiration and clarification. But here are the details of the practice. This is something that will bring great benefit at every level of proficiency. There are 9 levels and each level brings great benefit. May anybody who reads, understands, and puts this into practice quickly obtain the state of equanimity and be released from confusion.
