Pandora Helps Find New Music
Posted by Chris Young on 12.01.05
There’s a project out there called the music genome where they are attempting to identify music by its composition to create a “DNA fingerprint” of the songs. They spun off this site called Pandora where you can create ’stations’ based on a song or an artist you like. So if you put in a band like ‘The Beautiful South’, you get many other examples of “fags playing the flute” (thank you snackrabbit, for the description). They stream the songs to you as a radio station and you can then vote whether the song matched your expectation or not. Also, right from there you can buy the song from ITunes or the album from Amazon. It’s a great way to discover new music!
