Yangsi Rinpoche to teach the “Perfection of Concentration” in Scottsdale, AZ
Yangsi Rinpoche is coming to Emaho on March 5th to teach the “Perfection of Concentration”, which is the fundamental instruction on Buddhist meditation. Buddhist Meditation is not concerened with acheiving special states, but rather of becoming more aware and awake.
Yangsi is a fantastic teacher. People are really drawn to his nature - he is very warm and obviously very deeply compassionate. Its actually rare to meet a person trained so deeply in being decent and generous. He is going to teach us how to sit - to go in the right direction and not get distracted. The Buddha said that along the path all kinds of paranormal abilities will come to your mindstream. Things like being able to see the future. But that you should not get distracted by anything, not make a big deal out of it - after all, we are on this path to become a Buddha, not a soothsayer. So this is a very practical teaching and the basis that all forms of Buddhist Meditation build upon. From Zen Shikantaza to Tibetan Visualization.
